Getting the small things right

So many times we forget to take care of the small things in our business. Because they are small we tend to think that they don’t matter or that people will forgive us for getting them wrong. How often have we heard people (or done it ourselves) judge an entire situation by the smallest fact. I have heard people proclaim someone’s guilt because they didn’t cry enough at the press conference. We all think we are Tim Roth from “Lie to Me”.
What I am trying to say is if you leave small errors in your business unresolved they will only damage your reputation and that may never be fixed.
In this podcast I refer to a previous blog about importance of “Contact Us” pages. This blog is worth a read and it adds weight to the argument I am making about small things.
In this podcast I relate a story about a company I was trying to interview for the podcast. Their phones went to fax rather than voicemail, their website lacked contact information and when I supplied my email they did nothing with it.
This is after they have spent thousands on a store refit and tens of thousands on stock. They have let themselves down on the small things.
