“How do I get clients”?
This is always difficult to answer the question “How do I get clients”. I recently gave advice about this topic to someone that was starting a business. She said I have no marketing budget so I am going to rely on “Word of mouth marketing”. In fact “word of mouth” is an outcome of marketing. It is more true to say “Word of mouth” is an outcome of great customer service.
As she has no financial budget she is going to have to spend time. The most effective marketing that has only a time component is social media. I advised a Facebook page and a blog (she already had a Google Plus account). She was going to ask her friends for help and see if they were willing to spread the word. This is okay but it will run out of steam pretty quick.
I suggested that she leverage her friends in a social media context asking them to like and repost her social media content. The other thing I suggested is that she had to make her customers celebrities. When a customer uses her service talk about them on social media. Talk about them and how great a job they are doing. This will prompt them to share your comments to their friends and community. This increases your exposure and this is the start of “word of mouth”.
Another answer to “How do I get clients”.
Content marketing is a great way of attracting customers. It does this by building your reputation as an expert in the field. We can all name TV doctors or TV designers. These TV professionals have clients and I guarantee people talk about being a client of the TV professional to everyone they know. You don’t have to get on TV to build a reputation in your industry. This reputation will bring customers that want to work with someone who is an authority.
You can build a reputation and generate word of mouth with virtually no cost except time. These two things will definitely answer the question “How do I get clients.
