Marketing Strategies From Scratch

Marketing Strategies are a must for all businesses no matter how large or how small the business is.  Most businesses have to come up with a marketing strategy once they have been operating for a while.  This can mean the undoing of existing marketing to come up with a set of new marketing strategies.  This can be expensive and difficult.

I was recently in the Small Business Big Marketing linkedin group and saw a discussion around developing marketing strategies for a property development business that was going to focus on the low to medium end of the industry.  Rosie Addison of “The non-boring web doctors” started off the discussion with some sound marketing advice.  She spoke of site signage and pay per click.

I was about to leave my comments when I realised there wasn’t enough room so I decided to make a podcast to answer the questions around marketing strategies.  So here we go.

Marketing Strategies for a new property development company.

One advantage this company has is that it is a brand new organization so it is starting from scratch.

Since the location is fixed this must be a major consideration when developing the marketing strategies.  Find the best part of the location and make sure that is enhanced in your marketing message.

Find the one word or one message that you want to be known for and push that at every opportunity.  When people hear your name or the name of the estate they have to instantly think of that one thing.  This is why the simplest message is the best.  If it is a complex concept it is not easy to recall and people will only remember that it is something complex.

Consistency in colour, font, images and language is vitally important.  If someone only gets a glimpse of your advertising they should be able to recognize that it is you.  Once they remember it is you, they will recall your simple message.  So you see how all these things work together as a single marketing strategy.

The final thing is reach and frequency.  Make sure you are hitting your target audience and that you are doing it often enough to get a piece of their memory.  In the podcast I talk about marketing to the people around the estate and encouraging them to tell friends and family.
